· In the United States, prostitution is illegal. Since a coalition of conservatives, evangelicals, liberals and feminists has promoted a crusade in the United States against prostitution, not only those who offer sex for money but also those who buy sex. The House of Representatives has just passed a law granting state and municipal police funds to investigate and prosecute clients, most of whom are men who pay for sex, brothel owners and pimps who exploit the prostitutes. In the last three years, twelve states have passed anti-trafficking laws for people who are forced into prostitution, and minors sold for that trade.
